Well-design, affordable stays are popping up around great cities in the world and Czech republic has a fine example of this creative approach to hosting that it is worth a visit in its own right. Welcome to Long Story Short Hostel in Olomouc. Olomouc?! If you haven’t heard of it now you will.

Eastern Europe has become in the past years a region full of great surprises in travel. With eager and curious travelers in search of original stays and experiences, countries like Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia and Hungary for instance have flourished due to the influx of young artsy travelers and plenty of tech and start-up companies having roots in eastern Europe. It is very exciting to travel to European countries that present great landscapes and off the beaten track cities – reinventing & producing more unique experiences and creating a great travel scene.

The city of Olomouc – in the Moravian region of Czech Republic is a fine example of a eastern European city that has become a little hidden secret, one which travelers are yet to fully discover. The city is one of those hidden gems of Europe – full of historic depth, phenomenal scenery, baroque fountains, historical buildings from 1600’s and a modern vibrant scene that is cool and up and coming.

Located in the historical center of Olomouc, Long Story Short Hostel is a stay to anyone who is looking for a break from the ordinary. It caters to a clientele that eager on experiences, budget conscious and yet wants to stay in a unique place – it is simple, affordable, well-designed and yet is still more than just a hostel feeling more like a hub for travelers and local creatives to hang out.

In a unique mix of dorms and private rooms for up to 56 people, the guests can expect functional and clean design in the beautiful vaulted ceiling spaces – plenty of clever design solutions, hand crafted furniture and comfy bedrooms – including the dorms – accented with splashes of muted colors. Blending the original history of the building with a contemporary touch, heaps of raw materials like wood, stone and metal were used. To soften things up a bit, curated artwork from local craftsmen with delicate vintage furniture was carefully chosen. Theatrical lighting to give depth to the stories the guests are creating for themselves creates the right ambience.

The ground floor will welcome you with a fast growing creative hub. In tune with many digital hubs in the world there is  Vault 42 – an open co-working space for any of the digital nomad guests. This great hostel is a new breed of hosting – its focus on quality, comfort and experience is original and organic. A positive re-imagining of the budget travel accommodation.
